Witless Dictionary #25--The Hank Pym Doctorate

Continuing my slightly condescending and apparently never ending series of entries wherein we try to find definitions for things that don't have a term, but should!

Hank Pym Doctorate--Term given to scientists or doctors who start as specialists in one field (as scientists tend to be) and soon graduate to becoming experts in everything. Give a general practitioner enough time and he'll go from putting a cast on someone's foot to designing a robotic exoskeleton for Steven J. Cannell.

Named for the original originator, who rose from a humble biochemist huffing shrinking gas for kicks to building robots, which he added genocidal urges for as that extra touch of workmanship that set his robots apart, I guess.

Dr. Donald Blake also designed an android, but his did not get as much publicity as that showoff Ultron. Darn you, Professor Zaxton!

Another example of this phenomenon is Dr. Iwamoto in ULTRAMAN. His field was apparently the all-encompassing SCIENCE, because he did everything in a mere 39 episodes.

Dude, what? Donald Blake was a general practitioner, never mind he was a Viking God who smashed things with a hammer in his off hours, so what the FUCK is he doing making androids?

I think that's just what happens, really . . .at some point you just become a doctor of science and saying stuff like "increase the Flash Gordon noise and put more science stuff around" becomes eerily natural.
