Just Sayin--Remarked While Flipping Through Channels
Y'know, Wolverine and the X-Men ended up being not terrible (No mean feat, as the latest Fantastic Four cartoon had once again proven that Fantastic four cartoons have to work hard to rise above "complete waste of time") so why is the new Iron Man cartoon--which mostly has the same people on board--such an awful, awful crime against my eyes?

Haven't seen this yet... what's it done wrong?
Well, let's see . . .first of all, they've taken the entire IM cast and made them into high-schoolers, the main villain is the damn Mandarin once again (actually two, but who gives a damn) and the whole thing is rendered in this sterile cel-shaded CGI that makes everything look blank and lifeless and washed out and . . .yeah, it's really ill-conceived on every level and makes the 1990s cartoon look like goddamn art now.
Please tell me the Mandarin is the high school principal. :)
Heavens no. He's actually a fellow student. Because really, why not go all the way if you're going to upend the storytelling engine?
This and Grame's assertion on the Savage Critics podcast Invincible IM is the new Brubaker Captain America have inspired me to finally pull the trigger on Iron Man Week.
Proving once again that good things can come from even the worst moments in the history of the superhero genre. :)
Diana, you are the first and perhaps only person who would term a week of in-depth updates on the Prattle as a Good Thing.
Mind you, I've very glad you do. :)
Well, it's true! There's a level of depth and attention to detail in the Theme Weeks that always make me feel like I'm getting The Whole Enchilada, so to speak. :)
My new tagline:
Witless Prattle: The Whole Enchilada :)
Glad you're liking these--they take a LOT of work and pre-planning (which is why I do them only once a month at most) take so much out of me and I wonder sometimes what people are getting out of them. :)
