Just Sayin': Dark Avengers #1

This could, I imagine, be construed as me getting up on my K-Box but . . .

So, all it takes for this whole Dark Reign tosh to be considered "awesome" is for Norman Osborn to go wanking off in a suit of armour that looks like Iron Man and Captain America pounded out a baby leading a bunch of faux-Avengers in a muddled rehash of Thunderbolts #1 and all of a sudden it's "awesome."

And comics are in better shape now as opposed to the 90's exactly how?

Please explain your answer in the space provided below. Remember, this counts as 20% of your final grade.

I believe Pag Sugenis said it best in the very first strip of THE NEW ADVENTURES OF QUEEN VICTORIA: "We are teh not amused."

True that. True F'N that.

And the sad thing is, I've been a board today where people were wetting themselves with delight at the bad-assedness of Dark Avengers.

Either they're wrong or I'm just way past it . . .

If I were really, really, really biased in favor of Marvel, I'd say the self-wetting folk are newer readers who are, in fact, unaware that this has been done before. And not so damn long ago either. But that assumes Marvel's been getting a lot of new blood lately, and I have some trouble believing that.

Well, it used to be that the statute of limitations in pro wrestling for revisiting the past was 7 years. Mind you, they have better audience turnover than comics, but then, what does.

I can't imagine it's many new people, and most of those who think it's so awesome, only think so because the kewlest characters (Venom and Bullseye--no, really) happen to be in it, so if it's working at all, it's working on that level.

If that's true, I suspect we'll be sharing a bit of Muntzian "Ha-ha!" in about a year or two - that level is the very definition of short-term.

Well, given that the same people who say that Bullseye and Venom are "kewl" are the same people who say they DC characters in every form but DC comics, well . . .either what you say will happen, or we'll finally have to confront that people must no really know what they want from superhero comics at all.
